Ingredients:

3 cups of all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup shortening
1 cup of lukewarm water required amount of aluminum foil

Preparation:

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and add the butter, then little by little add the water to form the dough, knead the dough so that it stretches, for 8 minutes.
  2. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes, uncover and knead quickly, divide into 7 portions, covering with a little butter to prevent the dough from drying out, cover and let rest for 20 more minutes.
  3. To form the flour tortillas you can use a plate, stretch each portion of the dough on a lightly greased plate until it forms a disk, place on the griddle over medium heat, leaving 1 minute per side.

You can also use greased aluminum foil to stretch the dough to form a disk and place it on the griddle with the aluminum foil. Once one side is cooked, remove the aluminum foil and continue cooking on the griddle.
